Walking for Charities (09-15-16)
On Your Mark, Get Set, Go!
As the storm clouds rolled in before sunshine won the battle, the World Class Unlimited Team joined approximately 3,300 other attendees who walked and ran for Kansas City charities. The largest Royals 5k event ever raised $75,000 for area children and military families.
Sponsors, including Hy-Vee, Academy Sports and KU, provided refreshments, rally towels and bags to the participants. The W-Man, Mustard, Ketchup and Relish were all on hand to pose for pictures with the young and the old.
While some ran to set a winning time for a prize, others visited as they walked and snapped photos to capture the moment. By far, the best moments of all were walking the warning track on the field of the 2015 World Series Champions’ Kansas City Royals, pretending to catch a fly ball at the 410 marker and appearing on the Jumbotron.
Keep your calendar open next year and let’s all walk for Kansas City charities.
