Mary's Retirement (10-10-14)
Mary Phegley, whom you probably knew, sat at the front desk when you came to World Class Financial, or heard on the phone when you called in, retired in August this year. What you probably didn’t know was that Mary didn’t work for WCF. She actually worked for the building we are located in and answered the phone for each tenant as if she worked for that company. So in reality, she’s “everyone’s Mary”!
That’s the best way to describe Mary. She’s that sweet lady who was always kind, always in a good mood, and treated you like you were her own. You could always count on Mary to look out for you and even defend you if necessary. You could always expect Mary to be there when you came to the office, with a crossword puzzle going and the Food Network playing in the background.
I once told Mary that she actually had three channels to choose from…the Travel Channel, the Home & Garden Network, and the Food Network…as I had noticed that she only ever played the Food Network. She said she didn’t plan on traveling anywhere, she didn’t plan on doing any house projects, and she liked to cook. So why watch the other channels!
Mary spent many years running an office for an insurance agency before coming into our lives. She started working at the front desk in our building part time over ten years ago. At a certain point, the afternoon person quit and she decided to go full time from then on.
When asked what she was going to do with her free time, she said she would spend more time with her kids and grandkids and have a glass wine a little earlier in the day!
Mary was an important part of not just our building, but of World Class Financial. She will be missed.
